The estimates vary widely, but tend to agree that there are in excess of 50 million poker players in the United States. The variations of poker are many, but it is Hold'em that has captured the gambling crowd's imagination.

When I was in Vegas in the Spring I was surprised to see how popular no-limit, with low maximum buy-in and small blinds had become.

From a game the Bellagio wasn't spreading last fall to one with substantial action this Spring is a huge change. I think we have the WPT to thank for that, generating all these wannabe poker heroes.
